Biography

Hi 👋, I’m James.

I’m a Senior Machine Learning Engineer at Waymo in London, developing realistic and controllable simulation agents to ensure the Waymo Driver is safe and reliable.

Previously I was a Lead Research Engineer at FiveAI, an autonomous vehicle startup acquired by Bosch in 2022. For over six years I developed algorithms and models across the autonomous vehicle stack. I was also privileged to lead teams working on localisation and surrogate modelling of perception systems.

I’m most proud of my work to improve the accuracy of multimodal fusion algorithms for object detection, published as Lift-Attend-Splat at the CVPR 2024 Workshop on Autonomous Driving.
